Sara Evans Refuses to Pander for Airplay
Sara Evans hasn't had a radio hit since 2011, but that doesn't mean the quality of her music has dipped. It's a well-known fact that women are underplayed and overlooked on the radio. Miranda Lambert's amazing song Tin Man peaked at 34 on the radio and Carly Pearce is the only one in the top 20.
This doesn't mean that Evans is throwing in the towel. With her newest album Words due out this Friday, Evans is sticking to her guns. In an interview with Taste of Country, Evans stated "...even if country music won’t play my music, I’m not gonna go and record a party song or a truck song just to try to get spins."
Evans even told Taste of Country how she doesn't even listen to the radio anymore because she can no longer identify with what is playing. Even if these statements burn any sort of bridge, it's nice to know that artists out there refuse to sell out in order to remain relevant.
