Hear Josh Abbott Band's New Horn-Filled Song

In November of 2015, Josh Abbott Band blew me away with the haunting album Front Row Seat. Separated into 5 acts, the album explored the life of a relationship, beginning in the days of being young and single, to falling in and out of love, and ending with the idea of moving on. It was a beautiful, semi-autobiographical story that hit home with me.

This time around, Josh Abbott seems to be taking a step in a new direction. Today, on Rolling Stone Country, they premiered this new track from their upcoming album, titled Texas Women, Tennessee Whiskey. From the slow ballads and classic, traditional Red Dirt Texas sounds to this upbeat, Merle Haggard and Sturgill Simpson-esque horn-fueled jam.

I know Josh Abbott will manage to destroy my emotions with heartbreak songs on the new album, but for now, I am enjoying the upbeat, dancing country. Until My Voice Goes Out is due out August 18th.
